A fun long weekend

Nana's school was cancelled on Friday (a cold day!) so Papa and Nana drove to Indy and spent the long weekend with us! Brian went to a Pacers game on Friday night and we tried a new pizza place that was so yummy! (For you Southsiders, it's Massey's across from Wal-Mart on Emerson and County Line.) Aunt Teese and Aunt Katy joined us on Saturday. We did some shopping and had lunch Monday at Cheeseburger in Paradise. Brian and I even got out for dinner on Sunday night just the two of us! We had a fun time but I realized now I didn't take many photos. Here is one of Nana with her little girl:

Carson and I made cupcakes and he decorated them for each of us. He wants to be a "cooker" when he grows up!

Go Butler!

Our other "baby" enjoying some beauty rest.

Miss Brooke enjoying some tummy time. She found her hands and was sucking on them (she sounded just like Maggie Simpson)!

The boys of the house lounging around doing some reading. Daddy makes a great chair!

Brooke is one month old!

Brooke turned one month old on Sunday! I borrowed an idea from a friend (thanks, Heidi!) and every month on the 18th until her birthday, will take a photo of Brooke next to a sign saying how old she is. Here is my little one month old baby girl!

I thought it would be really cute to get a pic of Carson with Brooke each month as well. It was a great idea, but this photo shoot didn't turn out so well - I think I took 10 photos and these are the best...really, not so great :). The last one is probably my favorite and of course, Brooke is missing a sock and she isn't even looking at the camera. Wish me better luck next month!

Grandpa and Grandma meet Brooke!

We had a busy weekend! Grandpa and Grandma Schluep from Tennessee came for a visit and met Miss Brooke! They thought she was pretty special! We also took Brooke for her first lunch at a resta-haunt (that's what Carson calls it!) on Sunday - she was a rock-star and slept the entire time. Brian and I were so thankful she was good!

On Monday, I took Brooke to one of my favorite places - Target! It was so nice and quiet - I'd love to find a way to do all my shopping in the middle of the week during the daytime! No pics from Target, but I still wanted to share the victory!

To the pool!

During this nice cold winter we are enjoying (rather, experiencing), our good friends the Houk's found a pool close to our house! The water is warm, there is a lifeguard and the shallow end is 3 feet so Carson loves it! Brian and Carson have gone a few Friday evenings with the Houk's but Brooke and I joined them on Saturday afternoon. My pictures are a little dark, but hopefully you can see how great of a swimmer Carson is becoming! And for Miss Brooke - this was the first of many, many times in her life when she'll be attending an event or activity for her big brother. Of course, she slept the entire time! Doesn't she look so relaxed?!?!

Vacation is over...

It's Monday and that means back to work for Brian, back to school for Carson and Mommy and Brooke's first day on our own....at least the sun is shining today which helps beat our sadness a little bit! Here are a few fun photos from the weekend that will hopefully help cure your winter-time blues, too!
Thanks for the fun bath soap-foam, Aunt Teese!

Brooke tried out her butterfly toy this weekend - big brother Carson helped animate the animals and creatures. She really enjoyed laying here!

Brooke's First Bath

We gave Brooke her first bath today - she smells so good! She is definitely a Schluep - after the intial shock, she loved the water! Carson was a big help, too - providing entertainment and helping wash her arms and legs!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! We passed on an invitation for a family party with some close friends (I was being a paranoid second-time Mom and worried about germs....) and decided to ring in the New Year at our house. Carson crashed on the couch from 6-8 pm so we let him stay up. We made homemade confetti, lit sparklers and watched the ball drop. We were all in bed by 12:15! We hope you have a blessed 2009 full of all the joy your hearts can hold!
